The Elmbrook United Academy is designed for the player who has demonstrated the ability, skill development and commitment to compete at a high level. Academy players participate in more training (twice per week) and compete in a higher league level (WYSA Academy Accredited League) than recreational players. The Academy training curriculum follows the recommendations of US Soccer’s Best Practices and is focused primarily on developing and mastering the players various technical skills in a fun and safe environment.
Teams will be formed for both girls and boys at the U8, U9 and U10 levels. Only those players invited to play in the Academy Program will be allowed to register for the program.
Training at all ages will be conducted in a pool format, with all players of the same age and gender training together. At U8, teams will be divided equally in terms of playing level. Beginning at U9, teams will be formed based upon skill level and ability. The same structure will take place at U10. Players may be realigned at the end of each season, based upon individual player development as determined by the age group director.
U8 will play 4 v 4 with no goalkeepers
U9 and U10 will play 6 v 6 plus a goalkeeper
All Academy age groups will be led by a paid, licensed head coach. Each head coach will be aided by qualified, volunteer staff coaches who will assist the head coach in training when available and may serve as the lead coach in games in the event the head coach is unavailable.
Fall season, August – October. Spring season, April – May. Teams will play approximately eight league games in each season and compete in two additional tournaments per year. Training will be held twice per week (90 minute practices) and games will be played on Saturdays (with an occasional Sunday game).
The Academy will have various training and playing opportunities throughout the winter. These opportunities include futsal training and league play at the Midwest Orthopedic Sports Complex and may include participation in a local futsal league. All winter programs are offered at an additional cost.
